Dilip Kumar Chowdhury
Dilip Kumar Chaudhury is a gold medallist from the Indian College of Arts, Calcutta. He has won numerous awards for his art work, including awards for The Best Water Colour from the Academy of Fine Arts (1993), the West Bengal State Academy award (1997), and the Gold medal Award at the All India Rajiv Gandhi Art Centre, Mumbai (2003).
Dilip is famous for his paintings of everyday life in Calcutta, and sometimes Benares, in water colour.From ancient monuments, streets and ghats, to a rickshaw-puller in action, he is able to capture it all beautifully. To somebody who has even a remote connection with Calcutta, he manages to bring a wave of nostalgia, as he symbolizes the character of the City of Joy in his work.
He has had numerous exhibitions across India and abroad, including in London and Sharjah.
